MMO titanium-clad copper wire anode
MMO titanium-clad copper wire anode is a high-performance composite material widely used in electrochemistry and other fields.Structural Composition: It consists of a pure T2 copper wire core, wrapped with a titanium layer typically 0.5mm to 0.8mm thick. The titanium layer is also coated with a mixed metal oxide (MMO) coating such as ruthenium-iridium (RuO₂+IrO₂) or iridium-tantalum (IrO₂+Ta₂O₅).
Manufacturing Process: Typically, an explosive + rolling method is used. A copper rod is inserted into a titanium tube, and an explosive process fuses the copper and titanium to form a titanium-clad copper rod. It is then hot-rolled to the required dimensions.
Performance Characteristics: It exhibits excellent corrosion resistance. The corrosion resistance of titanium allows for a long service life in harsh environments such as seawater and electrolytic media. The copper core provides high conductivity, reducing current transmission resistance and improving the efficiency of electrochemical processes. Simultaneously, due to the protection of the titanium layer and the good conductivity of the copper core, it has a long service life and high energy efficiency.
Primarily used for pipeline cathodic protection, especially in seawater environments. It can also be used in electrochemical applications that require low voltage operation, such as electroplating and electrolysis.
